This dish is often served in Izakayas (similar to pubs) across Japan. It is simple and very cheap to make. If you are in hurry, feel free to buy ready made pizza bases, but the beauty of the dish is its inconsistent shape which shows it’s homemade! You can add prawns and nori (dry sea weed) to turn it into a sea food style dish.

Ingredients (for two small pizzas)

200g bread & pizza flour
4g Salt
12g olive oil
105g water
1 bunch (4/5) Shallots
2 rashers bacon
80g mayonnaise
1 tsp soy sauce
cheese
(if you can find it) Japanese chilli powder

Step 1

Add flour, water and salt into a bowl and mix. Then add the oil and mix with your hands. Then leave to rest for 30 minutes in the fridge.

Step 2

Split the mixture into 3 balls, then gradually make a thin crust by stretching and pulling.

Step 3

Chop the green area of the shallots.

Step 4

Mix the mayonnaise with the soy sauce, and if you have it the Japanese chilli powder. Then spread the mixture onto the pizza bases.

Step 5

Add the chopped shallots, some chopped bacon some cheese.

Then put in a pre-oven at 230 deg cel for 15 minutes.
