This is a simple but delicious recipe which is sure to be popular with the kids. It is sweet, but not to the point at which I would serve this only as a dessert. Have it as a side dish to accompany one of your meals and watch your guests’ delight when they bite into one

Ingredients
1 silken tofu block
Potato starch
Vegetable oil
Sauce
2tbs sugar
2tbs mirin
2tbs sake
2tbs soy sauce
1/2 tsp Chinese chili miso paste (‘toubanjan’) – optional
1tbs Japanese mayonnaise
Step 1

Mix all the sauce ingredients together in a bowl.
Step 2

Empty the water from the tofu box and slice into bite-size blocks. Then put potato starch into a bowl and put the tofu in the powder generously on all sides. Then prepare vegetable oil in a hot pan.
Step 3

Fry each block of tofu in the pan on all sides until crisp. Make sure you don’t let the blocks touch eachother. Then wipe up the excess oil with a piece of kitchen paper held by cooking chop sticks!
Pour on the sauce and fry a little more until well coated. Delicious!
